Ordered takeout. The sushi was good. I'd go back. Parking can be difficult to find around dinnertime. Nice atmosphere.

Literally the best Japanese restaurant in Fairfax! The lunch box is totally worth it—highly recommend the salmon teriyaki!!

Delicious Japanese and Izakaya. Had dinner there and definitely will be back. I went to the area to do my grocery at Trader Joe’s (2-3 shops from Blue Ocean) but never know that this place served delish Japanese food (well now I know). Like we always do, we order plenty of food. Agedashi tofu, shrimp tempura, assorted sushi chef specials, tuna and mackerel izakaya(comes with miso soup, salad and sashimi) all were delicious!!! Enjoy the pictures but if you’re in the area, try their food!

Had an excellent experience at Blue Ocean! This is the most authentic Japanese izakaya that I have been to in a long time. The food is fresh, plentiful, the aunties are so helpful, and the prices are outstanding for the quality and portion of food. I do recommend calling ahead and getting a reservation. They are a smaller eatery with limited seating. There are a few different menus. Some items require you to call ahead and order, I'm guess to acquire fresh ingredients. I will definitely be going again soon to try their okonomiyaki and other items from their menus. Absolutely outstanding!

I had a good experience dining at this restaurant a few years ago, so I decided to go back when I was in the area running errands during lunchtime. Once I sat down, I was disappointed that the table and chair were sticky. The price of food was reasonable, as I ordered a set meal of ramen and salmon sushi for $18, which also came with a free salad. When I tried the ramen broth, it was too salty for my liking, and I had to add water to dilute it. The ramen noodles were fresh and had a good texture, but the sushi set took a while to arrive at my table, even though the restaurant wasn't crowded, and my server disappeared for some time. The sushi was decent but not the freshest I've had. The service was average, but it could have been better. The restaurant was small and cozy, with many art pieces and objects on the walls, which made it feel cluttered. I don't think I'll return, and, sadly, this restaurant is not as good as I remember it being.
