We went here for a family member’s Birthday and had an extremely large party, 16 or more. They were able to accommodate us at two separate tables which was fine with us. The chef did an awesome job and kept us entertained and laughing. Food was wonderful! They allowed us to bring in our own Birthday cake which was really nice! The only down side was that it was really hot in there. I know it’s hot with all those cook tops going but there was 0 airflow and so stuffy. We were all sweating but it’s worth it for hibachi!!

Makoto’s is a favorite go to Japanese steak house located in Boone Nc for my wife and I. Our kiddos like the show but fairly picky eaters so we don’t take them. We do see lots of children there when we go enjoying the food and show. We have been several times and does not disappoint. The staff always seems to be welcoming, the chefs are both skilled and fun. I highly recommend giving this a try.

The food was absolutely outstanding. They have a dedicated sushi chef who dedicates his time to making excellent fresh sushi. The waiter was also awesome and a super nice guy, who clearly loves what he does and puts a lot of effort into providing excellent service. 10/10, would highly recommend. Definitely give the “Spicy crunchy tuna roll” a try, it has an incredible amount of flavor. That was my favorite item that I had.

The course ingredients are of average quality. I believe the ingredient quality could be cost related. The fried rice lacked vegetables and had no eggs. The cook did well when preparing the food, but lacked significantly on the performance. Service was below standard. Filling up drinks and removing empty plates took longer than necessary. Staff were seen congregating and talking while others were carrying the load. The sushi seemed to have been prepared in advance and was warmer than expected. The facility was very clean and presentable. A service charge is automatically added to your bill in addition to meal costs. For a market that relies heavily on tourism, the performance, food quality, and service should be greatly enhanced. I expect this is a management issue more so than an employee fault.

We allowed 90 minutes for lunch between arriving and another obligation. After a brief wait to be seated with a full table we waited another 30 minutes before soup and salad were served. Then another 10 before the chef began cooking. The food was good. The chef and servers were courteous. The waiting was unreasonable based on the progress of the other tables. Not sure where the breakdown in communication lies? Makoto’s be mindful of the wait once customers are seated.
